Citadelle Reserve
Citadelle Reserve
Description:
A unique aged French gin produced in very small quantities in Chteau de Bonbonnet by the cellar master of Cognac Ferrand. Citadelle Gin Reserve is also matured for 6 months in old oak casks. Size: 750mL Proof: 90.4 (45.2% ABV) Origin: France Distillery: Maison Ferrand Taking citadelle gin, the distillers took this unusual spirit to cognac ferrand's cellar master, who aged the gin in small quantities in chteau de bonbonnet's cellars in a solera system, a maturation method usually seen in sherry production (though has been becoming rather popular in the rum world too). Very impressive stuff - recommend serving it over ice to get the fully flavour profile which the maturation has imparted. Nose: Herbaceous notes of dried spices, but also coconut shell, tobacco and orange flower. The second nose brings out notes of juniper berry and green tea. Palate: The first note is silky, abundant, a bit spicy/peppery, with hints of dried tobacco. Midtasting, additional notes of lemon zest, ginger and almond. A lasting finish. Finish: Long and crisp with more of those bruised herbal notes. Maison Ferrand is one of the worlds premier boutique producers of fine spirits, and the architect of the artisanal spirits movement. The company was founded by Alexandre Gabriel in 1989 with a mission to preserve age-old, artisanal production methods that capture the true expression of the spirit, and a commitment to revisit the classics while advancing innovation.
