A new-western style gin, that ignores the old notion that gin needs to be overwhelmingly juniper forward. cutler�s gin is handcrafted, using an array of locally grown california citrus, combined with floral notes of elderflower, jasmine, and spicy notes of cardamom that complement traditional botanicals of juniper berry, coriander, and angelica. this modern take on a traditional spirit creates a bright, complex, and refreshing gin, perfect for martini�s, on the rocks, or in your favorite cocktails. Size: 750ML Proof: 92 (46% ABV) Origin: United States Distillery: Cutler distillery Although very much part of the west coast�s burgeoning (overflowing?) new wave of gins, the Cutler last name traces itself back to the early 1900s and the dream of starting a bar in a California gold rush town. Now, roughly 100 years later, Ian Cutler crafts a gin in Santa Barbara featuring some of the states famous citrus like Ojai Pixies (a clementine variety) and Goleta Lemons with botanicals like cardamom, elderflower, and jasmine. Nose: This is a fairly exotic gin with bold aromas of wild orange and floral teas. Palate: The palate is rich and round and continues to show sweet citrus and a very light touch of juniper. On continued tasting, subtle notes of licorice and slightly spicy toasted clove also become apparent and compliment the citrusy components. Finish: The finish has a nice weight and doesn�t show any heat from its 46 degrees of alcohol. Cutler's Distillery was founded and named for Ian Cutler, who graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara (which we know personally to be one of the most stunningly beautiful college campuses in the world filled with stunningly beautiful people) and built his distillery in Santa Barbara in the "funk zone." Cutler used his degree in chemistry and his research work at different distilleries across the US and the UK to create his own brand of spirits, which harkens back to his family's brand from the Prohibition era.
