GrandTen Distilling is located in South Boston where it makes a variety of spirits, including several gins. Their barrel-aged gin, Wire Works Special Reserve Gin, is made with a neutral grain base and nine botanicals including cranberries. The gin is then aged briefly in American oak ex-bourbon barrels for up to a year. Okay, that's all of you again. Well good, because GrandTen have gone ahead and aged some of their lovely Wire Works American Gin in bourbon barrels to give it glorious caramel-y, vanilla-y notes. Nice! Nose: Plenty of vanilla and the creamy citrus aromas of a posh soap shop (that's a good thing). Lime, juniper, light caramels and a little coriander seed too. Palate: Lemon now, soft juniper, more subtle vanilla and some minerality. Finish: Clean with crisp citrus. GrandTen Distilling has been using locally-sourced ingredients to produce spirits (gin, rum, and more) in South Boston since 2012, and now, the team wants to convert its Saturday tasting bar into a legit cocktail bar. "We're building a space where people from all over Boston can come, kick back, and enjoy our spirits in good company," GrandTen writes on crowdfunding site Indiegogo.
