Description:
This smooth, well-balanced gin is named for the 16th-century explorer whose remaining crew members returned with barrels of cloves, a key ingredient to this gin. Iris root and flower provide Magellan with its beautiful blue color while enhancing its crisp taste. Size: 750ml Proof: 88 (44% ABV) Origin: France Distillery: Cognac Ferrand Magellan gin is made in France by Cognac Ferrand (who also produce Citadelle vodka & gin) at their Angeac distillery, using Charentais coppper potstills. The gin's natural blue colour comes from orris (iris) root & flowers, one of the 11 botanicals used in Magellan. Other botanicals include clove, cardamom, coriander and liquorice. Nose: Herbal nose with berry fruits. Hints of soapiness and perfume. Palate: Very herbal and aromatic palate. Perfume-like delivery. Coriander and tart juniper, citrus zest. Finish: Zesty, spiced finish. The 1990s see Alexandre Gabriel combing the Caribbean in search of the best rums of the region. Plantation is born: an artisanal range of rums from the great terroirs of the tropics. Fifteen years of dedicated rum-making later, in 2012, Alexandre is awarded Master Blender in the �World�s Best� rum awards, wins the prestigious GOLDEN BARREL AWARD and was named Distiller of the Year by THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE. Today, President and Owner of Maison Ferrand, Alexandre Gabriel has won praise across the category and industry.
