Size: 750ML Proof: 90 (45% ABV) Origin: United States Distillery: Du Nord Craft Spirits Fitzgerald is a macerated gin, a process that requires long steeping of botanicals. The long steep and the subsequent botanicals-in distillation creates a gin that tastes more like juniper and less like pine. A byproduct of the deep juniper flavor is the Fitzgerald louche or cloudiness. A gin "louches" when the ratio of botanical oils is high. The flavor of the gin is stored in these oils, so the resultant cloudiness is proof that the gin is packed with flavor. Fitzgerald is best served over ice or in a martini, and it will add bold flavor to any gin based drink. Nose: Juniper. An aroma of deep, earthy, and sweet berry notes. Palate: The palate is initially sweet, with a punctuation of pine and resin, that then returns to a pleasant sweetness. Bold, without overwhelming the senses. Finish: A crisp finish. Du Nord is the brainchild of Chris Montana, who decided to open a distillery in his home city of Minneapolis in 2013. It's a family-run operation that combines Chris' city-smarts with Shanelle Montana's country spirit. The craft spirits company has since grown considerably from a garage-type distilling project and works to bring minorities and members of underrepresented communities into their family.
